Breizh Connection

BREIZH for Brittany and CONNECTION for jazz or musical meetings.

I gather around this quite grandiloquent title almost everything I am proposing at the moment (and even in the past). BREIZH for Brittany and CONNECTION for jazz or musical meetings. Thus, changing formula regularly allows me firstly to break up with a certain form of monotony and secondly to see friends again or to make new friends. It allows me to vary the musical colours as well.

In fact, that is what I have always done. I have always tried to mix genres right from my quintet Meltemi (jazz fusion) with le big band SIRIUS (Jazz from Brittany) , but especially with the singer Yann Fanch Kemener. It developed with AN TOUR TAN (PENN AR BED cd), then with the symphonic orchestra (2 symphonies) to finally lead to l’ Estran, a sextet album (click here to see the discography).

BREIZH CONNECTION can be described as a flexible orchestra. It goes from a trio (Jazz with Simon and Popoff) to a quartet (La Plage, with Bernard Le Dréau). Music remains the main thread together with the mix (Mesk) between classical, celtic, jazz and many other musical influences.

I have a preference for duets which I have been playing in my chapel tour for years. What beautiful memories with Jacques Pellen in Portsall, Jean Chevalier (“Popof”) nearly everywhere, with Alain, Pascal, Bernard.. I have a special thought for the newcomer, Jérôme Kerihuel, with whom I recorded one of my favourite albums, Adarre.
